Hand Gurdy brake is smooth and positive- handle remains in ‘Down Position’ when paying out.
Unit is manufactured using all non-corrosive parts. New designed handle and drive plate are machined out of Marine Grade 6061-T6 aluminum, then Hard anodized to mill specifications for unsurpassed strength and durability in the field.
Nylon spool measures: 8 in outside diameter, 1 1/2 in wide with 5 in diameter core

Other Gurdys usually have the handle directly attached to the spool, which can be dangerous as the handle whips around with the spool during payout. The Kolstrand Standard Hand Gurdy features a handle which may be easily engaged for reeling in and dis-engaged when paying out.
