Kolstrand's 'Spreader-Bar' anchor winch is the perfect winch for the 30 to 40 foot vessel, depending upon how much cable/rope you want to store on the drum.
Note: The purpose of Kolstrand drum-style anchor winch is to pay-out and haul-in anchor line, usually with a shot of anchor chain. The winch is equipped with a ratchet and dog that will lock the drum, and is usually used by the vessel operator when anchoring in calm sea conditions.
As the winch is designed to haul a given load, and if the customer intends to anchor in calm conditions, the locking dog arrangement is usually sufficient. We do recommend that if the vessel is to anchor in other than calm sea conditions, that the user take a bite of the anchor line and secure it to a bow cleat, removing the load from the winch drum.
